Strike the Pose


Strike the Pose is a participatory VR experience about a reinterpretation of Oskar Schlemmer’s 1922 Triadic Ballet. Strike the Pose encourages the spectator to provoke movement in an experience that crosses graphic elements, bodies and digital.

To me there is something weird about experimenting VR in a public space. People see you moving around without having the same experience. Therefore I decided to integrate movement in VR and make the performative aspect that comes out of it the heart of this project. Strike the pose is a participatory VR experience. It is focused around a VR environment that is a reinterpretation of Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet from 1922. I wanted to echo the intention of the Bauhaus artist of which Oskar Schlemmer was part, that is to take the spectator out of his passivity. I created a scenography that takes into account the waiting and the observation. I wished to create a piece that would enhance movement and that would not leave the outsiders of the VR neglected. Here the spectator has to follow directions across the room to then take part in the VR.” Maya Bellier
