Notes on Blindness : Into Darkness is an immersive virtual reality (VR) project based on John Hull’s sensory and psychological experience of blindness released alongside the feature film.
John Hull’s original audio recordings form also the basis of this project, a six-part interactive documentary using new forms of storytelling, gameplay mechanics and virtual reality to explore his cognitive and emotional experience of blindness.
Each scene will address a memory, a moment and a specific location from John’s audio diary, using binaural audio and real time 3D animations to create a fully immersive experience in a ‘world beyond sight’.
Made with Unity, Notes on Blindness : Into Darkness is available at the Oculus Store (to download for Samsung Gear for free) and on the other platforms including App Store and Google Play Store.
This film is part of the VR Selection of the Institut français, which offers members of France’s overseas cultural network (the cultural services of French embassies, Instituts français and Alliances Françaises) a selection of French virtual reality contents for non-commercial use, within their venues or those of their partners.
