bio

Following studies in visual arts and art history, Ferdinand Dervieux entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (French Higher School of Decorative Arts) in 2008. He joined the Printed Image Department and taught drawing, the forwarding of artists’ books as well as engraving and silk-screening. A true new technology buff, forever in search of renewing his productions, he co-founded Parallèles Éditions with Maïa d’Aboville in 2013. They then published a series of transmedia projects combining paper and digital works. Some of their projects, such as Lis tes Classiques and Fibonacci have led to exhibitions and partnerships, particularly with SNCF (French Railway Company) and the City of Lorient (Brittany). At the same time, he decided to extend his studies by joining a research lab in interaction design as part of a post-master’s programme at ENSAD. He has thus moved farther down the digital path and has begun to head training in different schools and universities. In 2015, while Oculus was organising a large International Competition in Virtual Reality, he decided to try his hand at this new experimental medium and produced three projects: DRIFT (with Aby Batti), Along the trail (with Aby Batti and Louis Eveillard) and Panopticon (with Louis Eveillard and Julia Spiers), all three having received awards, thus guaranteeing for them support from companies such as Facebook and Google, enabling them to cofound the companies Panoptic Lab and SharpSense.Today, Ferdinand works full time on creating experiences and virtual reality games, increasing collaborative projects to create unique, multi-format and experimental works, such as Recall VR.
