Culture VR - Muted

Muted

about

Muted is a virtual reality experience that lets you sink below the surface of a young girl’s silence. Parental abandonment has left her voiceless. In a world of her own creation, she imagines a sister. Everyday, she goes to meet her by the edge of the old village wash-house, where for hours she gazes into the bottom of the large pool. She sees her dancing through the water, allowing herself to slowly sink down into her illusions, down to the depths of herself.

The participant experience a weightless drop of several hundred meters in the water, inside the hidden world of this young girl. Like a freediver’s descent, he will discover a poetic, hand-drawn universe and fall through million of particles dancing around.
Muted is not a 360 movie, but a six degrees of freedom experience that allows us to be fully integrated into the universe. This experience mixes emotional and physical sensation by bringing the feeling of abandonment closer to a weightless fall.

The Muted experience was presented for the first time at Chroniques in autumn 2018 and at Kanal – Center Pompidou in spring 2019.
