Wearing a VR headset, the viewer is invited to share the life of a prisoner who is about to trade his eyes for years of freedom.
Fugue VR results of a close collaboration between a choreographer, Yoann Bourgeois, and a director, Michel Reilhac. Composed of a VR film and a mixed reality experience for 10 users, Fugue VR is a narrative recreation of “Fugue Trampoline” by Yoann Bourgeois, on a music by Philip Glass. In the mixed reality experience, the users dive into a poetic universe and perform a choreographic movement during the viewing of the film. The VR film can be viewed independently of this mixed reality experience. Both offers a sensory immersion of a dozen minutes in the world of the choreographer Yoann Bourgeois. Freely inspired by his play Fugue trampoline, Fugue VR is a variation on the theme of the myth of Sisyphus: a sacrificial ritual repeated by an elected leader to save his community.
Yoann Bourgeois is an acrobat, actor, juggler and dancer but above all he is a player, a performer. He revisits the fundamentals of acrobatics around the notions of imbalances and impulses. In 2010 he founded his company. Since January 2016 he is co-director of the CCN2 – Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble.
